Victoria State Nomination Update

Dec 20, 2023

The most recent changes to Victoria's State Nomination Programme for 2023-2024 offer excellent prospects for skilled migrants within and internationally.

The nomination program offers two unique visa pathways for skilled migrants

  • The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190), provides permanent residency throughout Victoria.

  • The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491), caters especially to rural Victoria and provides a road to permanent residency.

Top Occupations and Visa Allotments

Particularly, the Victorian government prioritizes occupations in:

  • Healthcare

  • Social Services

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

  • Teaching

  • Advanced Manufacturing

  • Infrastructure

  • Hospitality or tourism

This program intends to recruit and retain qualified persons by allocating 3,300 skilled visa nomination spaces, 2,700 for subclass 190, and 600 for subclass 491.

Updates in Victoria's 2023-24 Skilled Visa Program (Subclass 491 and Subclass 190)

  • Regional Skilled Work (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491) Requirements

Onshore candidates seeking a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) nomination for the 2023-24 program must reside and work in regional Victoria during the nomination period. The Department of Home Affairs includes several Melbourne outlying suburbs in these regional zones.

Candidates who previously filed a subclass 491 ROI in 2022-23 but were not selected must reapply if they are still qualified under the revised requirements.

  • Current Situation for Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

The program for category 190 visa nominations needs to be more balanced. If you filed a subclass 190 Registration of Interest (ROI) without selection in 2022-23, there is no requirement for a new ROI unless the given information has changed.

It is suggested to double-check the present ROI's partner points and yearly salary replies; if they are inaccurate, remove the current ROI and resubmit an amended one.
